The Orange County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the reduction of the speed limit on Winter Garden Vineland Road. The speed limit between Apopka Vineland Road and Chase Road will be lowered from 55mph to 45mph.
Approval was conducted unanimously through the Consent Agenda during the 9am meeting on September 28th.
District 1 County Commissioner Nicole Wilson posted:
The reduction of speed for this corridor was evaluated after multiple citizen concerns regarding high speed on Winter Garden Vineland Rd. A speed study was conducted by the Orange County Traffic Engineering Division, in which the speed limit varied between 55 mph and 45 mph. The study concluded that a speed limit of 45mph is more appropriate for the road to ensure resident safety.
No timeline was included on when the speed limit change will occur, but Orange County Traffic will most likely make the change soon.
