Water Spring Elementary School Principle Dr. Larson notified parents of an unfortunate situation that occurred off campus after school.
While walking home from school, a student was struck by a vehicle along Water Spring Blvd. According to Dr. Larson, the student was transported to a local hospital out of an abundance of caution and is expected to okay.

Drivers need to be reminded about appropriate speed while diving in and around school zones. Florida law requires all children under 18 to be in a seat belt or child restraint device. Florida law also prohibits texting while driving and that any form of typing, entering multiple letters, or reading data on a mobile device while operating a motor vehicle is illegal.
Parents also need to remind students regarding proper pedestrian safety. Always use sidewalks and only cross the road in a marked crosswalk. Students riding a bicycling who are under 16 years of age are required to wear a helmet. Riders of electric scooters must be 16 years old under Florida law.
Kids helmets are available on Amazon starting at $15.
