The Central Florida Expressway Authority has been working on a multi-year project to develop a new toll road to connect 429 and 27. This road will become a major connector between Orange County and Lake County and solve for significant missing infrastructure in the area. The nearest suitable connector roads are 192 to the south and Hartwood Marsh Road to the north, both of which become heavily congested during rush hour.
The Expressway Authority and both counties have been working together to develop additional connection points. Three variations were presented and reviewed during the process over the past several years, with the 3rd variation becoming the preferred variation due to the lowest social impacts.
The new connector toll road will offer a connection point at 429, close to Schofield road. A western entry and exit will occur almost immediately, at a new extension road down from Schofield Road. This new road will is proposed Valencia Parkway, for a proposed campus site for Valencia College in Horizon West. An additional exit will be present at a proposed extension of 455, Hartle Road, which is currently being extended down to connect to Hartwood March Road.
Construction is planned to be begin in 2022 for this new road and is currently entertain the design phase.
