The Orange County Board of County Commissioners will be hearing two different requests on Tuesday regarding new apartments along Avalon Road, close to 192.
A 340 unit apartment complex along Avalon Road will be going before the Board for approval. A virtual community meeting was held on May 12 and did not receive any public opposition. The applicant team worked with District 1 Commissioner Wilson on wetland preservation, tree preservation, inclusion of eight-foot sidewalks, integration into commercial site, support for future transit with bus shelter, and inclusion of EV charging stations. The developer is planning on offering affordable rents within the 80%-120% area median income range. The developer is accomplishing this based on the lower density nature of the development and is not seeking money from the county or state, nor seeking additional waivers, related to affordable housing.
The full Staff Report sent to Commissioners is available online.
The second apartment complex is also being requested is close to 192, just north of Bali Blvd, for up to 382 units. A virtual community meeting for this request was also held on May 12, but no members of the public attended.
Public hearings for both requests will be held by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, July 12 and members of the public who wish to voice their opinion should plan to Appear Before The Board in-person.
