A commercial truck caught fire on SR 429 Sunday morning, causing all southbound lanes to be shut down in response.
The closure was reported at 8:29am, and the road remains closed into the afternoon. The latest update from 1:11pm states that the road remains closed and an inter-agency response was still working the site.
Traffic camera video of the scene show numerous vehicles at the site, including a backhoe removing truck debris along the median and skid steer working on the roadway. Burn markings can be clearly side across the entire width of 429 from the traffic camera.
Traffic is being diverted off at Schofield Road, south along Avalon Road, and re-entering at Seidel Road.
No information was provided on when 429 will reopen. Anyone planning on traveling through the area should check navigation apps for the best route.
UPDATE: 429 is now reopened.
