MetroPlan Orlando is currently seeking public input through a new survey that will help shape the future of transportation across Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties through the year 2050. The survey is part of the organization’s 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP), which will identify regional priorities for transportation projects based on community needs and available funding.
The survey asks participants to share their opinions on key issues such as safety improvements, roadway congestion, pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and public transit options. Residents are also invited to help prioritize different types of transportation investments based on what they believe will best serve the region’s future growth and mobility needs.
According to MetroPlan Orlando, the 2050 Plan is updated every five years and serves as the region’s long-range blueprint for major transportation investments. The current effort will address not only traditional road projects, but also emerging technologies, environmental concerns, and shifts in population and land use patterns.
Horizon West residents are encouraged to participate in the survey to ensure that the needs of fast-growing communities like theirs are reflected in future transportation planning. As Horizon West continues to experience rapid development and increased traffic demands, input from local residents could influence the prioritization of roadway improvements, transit expansion, and trail connectivity that directly impact daily life.
MetroPlan Orlando plans to use the feedback collected to draft a proposed project list and funding strategy, with final adoption of the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan scheduled for 2025.
