The expansion of Reams Road into a four-lane divided highway has entered the final stage of design after several years of analysis and planning. The process began in April 2017 which included data collection, analysis, community meetings, and various proposals of design. After years of work, the final design of the roadway is being worked on.
According to an e-mail sent by Orange County Commissioner Betsy VanderLey, “This phase of the project includes the roadway engineering and preparation of final construction plans and documents. The project will be designed in general accordance with the Reams Road Roadway Conceptual Analysis completed in 2018. The construction plans are scheduled to be completed in early 2022”.
Depending on the timeline of completion of the construction plans, residents living in the area and commuting through Reams Road should expect construction to begin in 2022 or 2023.
