Reams Road Expansion and Traffic Study Update – August 2017

Reams Road has become a vital roadway in Horizon West connecting the surrounding area to Walt Disney World and connecting many communities to other major roadways. With the increased usage, Orange County is currently in the process of expanding the roadway in some segments and studying traffic patterns to determine future needs.

Delmar to Taborfield Expansion

Construction is underway between Delmar Ave and Taborfield Ave to expand Reams Rd into a four-lane, divided road. This segment will align with the current four-lane segment that already exists from Silverlake Park Dr to Delmar Ave and consists of a 0.6 mile stretch of road. Improvements to the road will include a raised grassed median, concrete sidewalks, landscaping, curb and gutter drainage, and roadway lighting ((Reams Road Taborfield Avenue to Delmar Avenue)). There is currently no scheduled completion date for this expansion.

Reams Road Roadway Conceptual Analysis (RCS) Study

Orange County has commissioned a study to review Reams Rd from Taborfield Ave to Summerlake Park Blvd. According to Orange County, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the addition of lanes to the existing two-lane section of Reams Road within the project limits. By the end of the study, a final preferred alternative will be presented that incorporates public input with technical evaluation assessing the net benefits of the improvements ((Reams Road RCA Study)).
