The company behind the proton therapy location in Hamlin has declared bankruptcy according to the Wall Street Journal. Construction on the Hamlin location has largely been finished, but the installation of the complex medical equipment has not been finalized. Provision’s two other locations will remain open with no disruptions to patient care during the bankruptcy. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the company plans to complete the facility in 2021 and have it open in 2022.
Filing for bankruptcy will allow the organization to restructure their debt load and operate better through the COVID-19 pandemic, which has caused changes in reimbursements and a decline in patients seeking care. The company confirmed that there will be no layoffs for their employees.
