Horizon West faced the brunt of Hurricane Milton in the early hours of October 10, experiencing high winds and heavy rain that caused a flash flood warning for the area. Most residents and businesses reported only relatively minor damage throughout Horizon West, such as a water leak, damaged fences, or blown over trees. Horizon West 12″ to 13″ of rain.
Power Outages were also relatively sparse in Horizon West, a rarity in the area as Windermere, Winter Garden, and Clermont all faced significant widespread outages. The Watermark area along Seidel and the Oviation area west of Avalon were the only large areas to lose power. The Duke Energy Outage map showed both of these resolved by the early afternoon.

Hamlin
A roadside for Hamlin Groves Trail fell from the stoplight. Walls on the construction site for Agave Bandido buckled and collapsed under the wind.

Reams Road
Moderate flooding continues to occur on Reams Road after excessive rainfall. The area east of the Mobil gas station had water actively flowing over the road, which was the same portion that was closed after Hurricane Ian.

Reams / Ficquette / Summerlake Intersection
Flooding was also present at this intersection, with the entrance to the new Dream Finders neighborhood deeply flooded along with the right turn from Ficquette onto Summerlake.

Ficquette Road
Minor flooding occurring along the road and by Independence.

Schofield Road
The stoplight at Avalon Road and Schofield Road was operational and appeared unaffected by the high winds. It is unknown if preventative measures were taken place and the light was restored before we drove through the intersection.

Avalon Road
No flooding was observed along Avalon Road. The intersection at Porter Road, which used to flood, did not have any water on it since the road was expanded.
