Residents throughout Horizon West, especially in Town Center and Lakeside Village have complained about oversized vehicles parking along our roadways, creating a hazard by blocking sight lines of traffic. These vehicles have been known to park overnight, or in some cases, for days at a time, making it a daily nuisance for drivers.
Starting November 2, Orange County is increasing fines for oversized vehicles parking on the right-of-way. Flyers are being issued reminding drivers that rights-of-way are not to be used as a temporary parking lot or storage of vehicles and that large vehicles are reducing spaces for residents. Fines start at $30 and can be as high as $150.
This new ordinance should provide county enforcement more teeth to assist residents with any parking issues that continue to arise in the future.
