Orange County Board of County Commissioners has unanimously approved Silverleaf Phase 3, which consists of 443 single family homes. The new Silverleaf development is located west of Avalon Road, next to Hamlin in the Horizon West Town Center. The houses will be divided between:
- Single Family: 175
- Bungalow: 114
- Townhome: 160
The site has received additional attention recently due to the mass grading taking place before being approved by the BCC, along with runoff causing Avalon Road to flood. However, as Commissioner Wilson noted during this meeting, the Silverleaf Master Plan was already approved by the County Commission when Betsy VanderLey was commissioner, leaving no room to oppose the plan. With the master plan already approved, the BCC is simply approving if the proposed plan meets Orange County code requirements.
One resident who lives along Lake Ingram Road was present during the meeting and voiced concerns over the traffic plan for Avalon Road and water contamination of residential water wells. Homes along Lake Ingram Road utilize well water, and the resident stated everyone along the road is now having to clean there filters every few days due to increased sediment in their wells.
The representative for the developer stated they would get the residents contact information and schedule a meeting to discuss the issue.
