San Jose’s Original Mexican Restaurant has opened their new location in Windermere at Lakeside Village. The restaurant was founded in 2000 by five brothers in Orlando, Florida. Their vision was to offer authentic Mexican cuisine at affordable prices, while also providing a cultural experience.
The Windermere location is the restaurant’s 6th location. Other locations include Ocoee, Clermont, Altamonte Springs, Winter Garden, and Tavares.
The menu at San Jose’s Original Mexican Restaurant is a celebration of authentic Mexican cuisine, starting with a variety of flavorful dips. The Chorizo Dip combines Mexican sausage with a signature cheese dip, while the Bean Dip and Beef Dip offer a blend of refried or black beans, and ground beef with cheese dip respectively. Additionally, a fresh Guacamole made with secret ingredients and a cheese dip known as SJ’s Cheese Dip are available, catering to the traditional flavors of Mexican cuisine.
Venturing into the starters, the menu offers a delightful assortment including Taquitos, Handmade Tamales, Spinach Dip, and a Sampler Platter for those keen on exploring a bit of everything. The Taquitos are bite-sized crispy corn flautas stuffed with a choice of shredded chicken, beef tinga, or mashed casa fries. The Handmade Tamales are traditional homemade shredded chicken or pork tamales dressed and steamed in a corn husk. Lunch is served Monday – Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Additionally, there are various burritos, enchiladas, and other classic Mexican dishes priced around $10.90 to $11.90. Dinner is served Monday – Thursday from 3pm to 10pm, Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 10:30pm, and Sunday from 3pm to 9pm. The dinner menu is categorized into salads, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, signature favorites, dinner combos, carne & puerco (steak & pork), pollo (chicken), and mariscos (seafood). Prices range from $4.90 for a house salad to $27.90 for some seafood and steak dishes. Each category has multiple offerings with different protein options and are served with traditional sides like Mexican rice, refried beans, and a choice of tortillas. The menu reflects a rich variety of flavors catering to different preferences, ensuring a comprehensive Mexican dining experience.
