A major traffic improvement is coming to improve traffic flow in Horizon West. Plans are underway for a roundabout at the intersection of Seidel Road and Summerlake Park Boulevard, a busy corridor that has seen increased congestion as the area continues to grow. The project has already reached the 60% design milestone and is moving forward with final design completion expected by September 2025. The county anticipates selecting a contractor by March 2026, with construction set to follow.
This roundabout aims to improve traffic flow and enhance safety at an intersection that has become a frequent bottleneck during peak hours. Roundabouts have been shown to reduce serious accidents and improve efficiency compared to traditional signalized intersections.
The design and construction funding for this project has already been secured through Orange County’s Accelerated Transportation Safety Program (ATSP). In 2024, Orange County approved the $100 million ATSP, which provides provides $55 million for roadway lighting, sidewalks, and safety improvements, and $45 million to improve LYNX operational frequency and bus shelters.

Adjusting the Seidel Road and Summerlake Park Boulevard intersection to a roundabout will help ease congestion and maintain better traffic flow for residents traversing the area.
