Orange County Public Schools is seeking input for the name of Site 47 E-W-4. The new relief Elementary School is located west of Avalon Road in the Waterleigh development, close to Water Spring Elementary.
Construction is scheduled to finish in June, with the school opening in August 2024. The school sits on 15 acres and features 97,941 sq. ft. of space which will accommodate 837 students.
Students rezoned for the new school are largely comprised from Hawksmoor, Avalon Cove, Waterleigh communities. The school is projected to open with 770 – 790 students.
The school will provide significant relief for Water Spring Elementary School, which was at 171% capacity to start the school year, and an interactive map of the zoning map is also available through OCPS.
To determine the school name, OCPS hosts an open-ended survey to collect name ideas from the community. Once collected, a second survey will be created from the top 5 chosen names. The top 3 results will then be submitted to the School Board for final determination. To submit your choice, visit the Site-47-E-W-4 School Naming Survey before February 9th at 4pm.
