The Orange County Library Board of Trustees held their board meeting this week on July 8 and included several library updates for residents in Horizon West. The team at Horizon West Magazine attended the public meeting and provided an in-depth report on what took place.
Here are the important highlights:
- A book drop off will be available starting August 1 at Hamlin in front of the State Farm office, located close to Publix.
- The library’s mail order system, MAYL, is being expanded to include everyone in zip code 34787. With the expansion of mail order and a local drop-off box, library access is greatly expanded.
- The Orange County Library Board heard a proposal from Orange County and City of Orlando staffers to find a solution to build a library at both Horizon West and Lake Nona. As previously reported, the library currently only has the budget to build one library. This proposal would create a 30-year lease at both locations, which helps defer costs, allow both to open simultaneously.
