The 6th Annual OktoBEARfest Fun Run & Walk is approaching and is scheduled for October 22, 2023. Held at the Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital, the event kicks off at 7:30am, welcoming participants for a 5K run or walk.

This year’s event is in honor of Kari Schmitz, a co-founder of Bears Who Care, who is battling stage 4 lung cancer. Every registration, in person or virtual, is a heartfelt donation to the charity.

Registration is open with different pricing tiers. Early birds can register for $40 till October 19, or for $45 during the packet pick-up days on October 20 and 21, or $50 for registration on the event day. Kids registration is $25. Each participant, whether they’re part of the 5K or Kid’s Run, receives a finisher medal, goody bag and race bib. Groups of five or more enjoy a special rate, so gather your team to run for a cause!

Bears Who Care, the charity behind this event, is all about bringing smiles to children’s faces through teddy bears and books. They are a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to providing comfort and education to children in need. Their official teddy bear, Bailey, symbolizes the comfort and inspiration they aim to provide to children everywhere.

The OktoBEARfest 5K isn’t just a race; it’s a community coming together to support a noble cause while promoting health and family fun. Post-race, the fun continues with live entertainment, interactive sponsor booths, a scavenger hunt, and prize giveaways.
