One of the reasons residents love living in Horizon West is the proximity to Walt Disney World and especially, the Magic Kingdom. Not only due residents enjoy quick access to the parks, but also enjoy the sensory overflow that occurs within such a short distance. At night, many areas of Horizon West can enjoy spectacular views of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. While they occasionally may rattle the house or wake us up in the middle of the night for testing new fireworks, it’s a fun part of living in the area.
During the day, it’s common to hear the train whistle at Magic Kingdom as it circles the park throughout the day, reminding us all just how close we live to where tens of thousands of people are on vacation. However, the delightful sounds of the train will be going quiet for an extended period of time as the Walt Disney World Railroad closes due to construction of the new TRON roller coaster at Magic Kingdom. According to WFTV, the last day of the train operation will be Sunday, December 2. Once closed, a train will be parked at the Main Street station allowing visitors to still see a train up-close, even though they can’t ride it.
When will the train re-open?
Disney as not announced an opening date for the railroad. The TRON roller coaster is planned to open in 2021, making it an extended construction project that has already begun. It’s likely the train will be closed for over a year due to the construction schedule. Similarly out at Disneyland in California, their railroad closed for 18 months to accommodate construction of their Star Wars land, but did re-open before Star Wars was completed.
