Vertical construction is now underway at the future Horizon West Library.
The Orange County Library System has announced that crews have moved beyond site preparation and foundation work and are actively building the structure above ground at the future Horizon West Regional Park, located north of Hamlin along Hamlin Groves Trail.
The 20,000-square-foot library will feature three flexible meeting rooms that can be combined for larger events, two study rooms and two training rooms for educational and professional use, a technology-equipped media lab for creative projects, and an outdoor pavilion and stage designed for performances and community gatherings.
The Horizon West Library has been in planning for several years, with land acquisition approved by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners in 2021. Following the groundbreaking held last fall at the Regional Park site, construction has now reached a major milestone with the building beginning to take shape.
Rresidents can continue to fully utilize library services through free home delivery and the return drop-off box located at Hamlin.
Construction is expected to take 18 to 24 months, with an anticipated opening by late 2025. Once completed, the library will provide Horizon West residents with a full-service branch closer to home, reducing reliance on the Winter Garden and Windermere branches.
