Horizon High School has been selected as one of 7 high schools in Orange County to pilot a new weapons detection pilot program.
Schools will begin using walk-through weapons detection systems to screen all students and campus visitors. The technology is similar to what is used by theme parks for visitor screening.
Other high schools selected in the program include Wekiva, Boon, Lake Nona, Evans, Timber Creek, and Jones.
Wekiva High School will start the pilot on December 18th, with other schools implementing the program in phases between January and March.
