Anyone traveling to Clermont via Hartwood Marsh Road will need to factor in extra time for the trip. The speed limit on the road has been reduced from 35mph to 25mph from Avalon Road to the Lake County border. Once in Lake County, the speed limit increases to 40mph.

The decrease in speed limit comes as more residential development has occurred along the road and the surrounding areas. The road has become an artery connecting Clermont and Winter Garden with many drivers using the road to commute, especially to access the new expanded exit on the 429; however, the road was never designed for this function.

Residents along the road have been vocal about speed and heavy trucks on the road. Earlier this year, Winter Garden banned certain classes of trucks from using the road, forcing them to go to SR 50. The road also has limited infrastructure available to residents, which forces residents to travel either way on the road for schools, groceries, or other commercial business. This stretch of roads sits within the City of Winter Garden city limits.
