Hamlin has announced a new Food Hall Market concept for Hamlin Lake District to be built next to Cinepolis. The location will be called Hamlin Market and will be a new “food hall” style, featuring a variety of smaller eateries indoors under one roof. One of signature pieces of Hamlin Market will be an outdoor, rooftop bar that overlooks Lake Hancock. This bar would be incredibly popular for locals to enjoy the views of Horizon West, and possibly evening fireworks at Magic Kingdom and Disney.

Examples of local food halls are East End Market and Plant Street Market, which is only 15 minutes from Hamlin in downtown Winter Garden. Plant Street Market features 17 locally owned businesses and is most well-known as the location of Crooked Can Brewing Company.

In an announcement on Facebook, Hamlin states it will feature a rooftop bar on the second floor, have significant outdoor seating, and plans to start construction in the second quarter (April-June) of 2019. However, in an interview with Orlando Business Journal, Boyd Development Group President Scott Boyd was less committal on some of the specifics of the project. Highlights of his comments include:

• No operating partner is confirmed, but are in discussions with one. Once confirmed, the operator can change plans to their desire.
• Construction could start in the second quarter of 2019
• Food Hall may feature a rooftop bar
• Gravity Architecture & Design is the architect

Based on this information, residents of Horizon West should remain skeptical due to the fluidity  surrounding Hamlin Market until more finalized plans are released. Based on the preliminary construction schedule, Hamlin Market may not open until 2020. Hamlin has a tendency of announcing projects at a very early stage, which helps boost interest and home sales, but can lead to frustration from current residents with the lack of progress and openings. While development of restaurants, and especially the lake walk, are slow, everything Hamlin has confirmed has happened or remains on-track to happen.
