Orange County is asking local residents to select the final school name for the new elementary school in Horizon West. Site 89-E-W-4 is scheduled to open for the Fall 2022 school year and will help alleviate overcrowding in Horizon West schools.
The three finalist names are:
- Hamlin Elementary School
- Named this because of its proximity to the Hamlin development and the hamlin variety of orange trees that used to grow in the area
- Hamlin Hills Elementary School
- Named this because of its proximity to Hamlin and the fact that it is located in a hilly area
- Lake Ingram Elementary School
- Named this because of its proximity to Lake Ingram
Mascot options for the school are:
- Mascot: Honeybees, Colors: yellow, black, and white
- Mascot: Cranes (sandhill), Colors: red, gray, and white
- Mascot: Huskies, Colors: blue, gray, and white
To vote, submit the survey to Orange County and view the redistricting map.
