The deadline for public input on the proposed expansion of State Road 429 (S.R. 429) is fast approaching, and residents still have a chance to voice their concerns before it’s too late. The Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) is accepting feedback until February 28, 2025, and those impacted by the changes are urged to make their voices heard.

The project aims to expand S.R. 429 from four to six lanes and introduce Flex Lanes for emergency traffic management. However, despite these enhancements, the plan does not include a northbound entry ramp or a southbound exit ramp at Seidel Road, a decision that has frustrated many local commuters who travel through the area.

Residents in Horizon West and surrounding communities have raised concerns that traffic congestion in the area will continue to grow without proper access improvements at Seidel Road. While the expansion promises increased capacity and noise mitigation measures such as proposed noise walls near residential areas, the omission of critical interchange enhancements could lead to continued bottlenecks and increased commute times.

Community input is a vital part of the decision-making process, and CFX has provided multiple ways for residents to share their feedback before the February 28 deadline. However, time is running out to influence the final design of this major infrastructure improvement.
