The Florida Department of Transportation will not be moving forward with a recommended turnpike exit at Avalon Road, according to the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. A representative from FDOT spoke to the chamber on October 22 at their Economic and Advocacy Committee as the Spotlight Speaker.
While the exit would offer additional transportation options for Horizon West residents, the addition faced stiff resistance from the Winter Garden community in the immediate area of the intersection.
The City of Winter Garden Commission had voted unanimously opposed on the proposed interchange.
