A community meeting has been scheduled for May 5 at 6pm for public input regarding a rezoning request. The land, still currently owned by Diocese of Orlando, is requesting to rezone 59.71 acres from A-1 (Citrus Rural District) to Planned Development District (PD) in order to construct 184 single family residential dwelling units.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the community meeting, where Orange County and the developers will review the request. The land is located in close proximity to Hamlin, approximately between the Hamilton Gardens neighborhood and Avalon Road.
The Diocese of Orlando most likely no longer requires the land for a church due to the close proximity of the new St. Faustina Catholic Church under construction in Clermont. St. Faustina’s new location will be at the corner of SR 27 and Sawgrass Bay Blvd, just a short distance from Horizon West once the Western Way extension is completed.
According to Growth Spotter, Dream Finders Homes is under contract to purchase the land.
