The Central Florida Expressway Authority has begun a new project on SR 429 and SR 451 media protection protections. The SR 429 and SR 451 Median Protection Improvements project will span from Seidel Road to Tilden Road on SR 429 and from Ocoee Apopka Road to Marshall Lake Road on SR 451.
The primary focus of the project is to bolster the safety of the roadways by implementing median protection improvements. This will involve the construction of asphalt pavement and guardrails within the median area. Additionally, the project includes regrading the shoulder adjacent to existing concrete ditch pavement, further enhancing the overall stability and functionality of the roads.

Median improvements come as SR 429 will continue to handle more volume in the future. Expressway Authority has approved SR 516, which will connect directly between 429 and US 27 in Lake County. Construction is already underway to widen 429 to 8 lanes from Tilden Road to SR 414, and FDOT is planning on widening to 8 lanes from I4 to Seidel Rd. The future Poinciana Parkway Extension will provide direct-access to SR 429 to residents in the Kissimmee and Polk County regions. Additionally, the Schofield Road paving project will provide an additional route for Lake County residents to enter Orange County, with more convenient access to SR 429.
Construction on the project is already underway and is anticipated to conclude in November 2023. For more information on the project, visit cfxway.com.
