At the July 26, 2022 Board of County Commissioners meeting, Commissioner Wilson inquired with Orange County Staff regarding the process and approvals for mass grading approvals.
During the meeting, the Preliminary Subdivision Plan for the Silverleaf development was up for approval. However, even before being voted on by the Board, the land was already mass graded. Currently, mass grading is approved by Orange County Staff, and was approved during the approval of the two new schools that were recently opened.
However, residents in Horizon West are familiar with the issues regarding the mass grading of Silverleaf, as heavy rains recently flooded the intersection of Avalon Road and Porter Road. At least one car was stranded in the flood and our reader reports the car was totaled.
The developer at Silverleaf has since dug out and added pumps to prevent Avalon Road from flooding again.
