Clearing has begun on the long planned residential development at the intersection of Reams Road and Ficquette Road. Dream Finders Homes will be constructing 57 homes on 306 acres called Palms at Windermere. The development also includes an additional 19.5 acre compensating storage area. A new permanent location for Fire Station 44 is also under construction near the intersection.
The majority of the land on the site will remain untouched wetlands, with development occurring mainly in upland portions.
The construction is taking place at one of the most challenging intersections in Horizon West where Reams, Ficquette, and Summerlake Groves converge. Residents who travel through the intersection have complained of flooded roads at the intersection, and Orange County has recently added Orange cones to keep drivers out of flooded areas. The intersection will be improved during the Reams Road Expansion, which is in the final design phase.
Flooded roadways have become an issue over the past month in areas that are under construction. If you encountered a flooded roadway, please share in the Horizon West Development Discussion group.
