A new cell phone tower for Horizon West is being erected along Schofield Road. It is being built on the site of the closed construction landfills, one of which still operates as a staging lot for equipment.

The tower will be 140 feet and is designed to reach a total height of 180 feet for future expansion. Orange County has only approved the 140 portion as part of the initial request.

Cell towers are typically owned by independent companies who then contract out the tower to wireless companies and this tower is expected to carry antennas for the major providers in the area. Permits indicate this tower is being constructed by North American Tower Corporation.
