Candidates for the upcoming 2022 elections have been finalized as qualifying dates have now passed. The primary election will be held on August 23 and the general election on November 8. Voters must register or make updates to registration 29 days before each election, which is July 25 and October 11, respectively.

Florida is a closed primary state, meaning only voters registered with the party may vote in that parties primary. Many Orange County elections are non-partisan, meaning candidates do not have a party affiliate for the election. The top two candidates in these elections will then proceed to the general election, or in the event a candidate secures more than 50% of the vote in the primary, they will outright win. This scenario occurred when District 1 Commissioner Nicole Wilson beat out incumbent Betsy Vanderley in a 3-way primary race.
