The Florida Department of Transportation is conducting a Public Information on the alternatives to the proposed 429 widening. Currently, 429 is four lanes (two in each direction), and FDOT has identified the need to expand capacity of 429 to eight lanes (4 in each direction).

On the southern end, the project begins at I-4 and into the proposed Poinciana Extension, which will directly connect I4 and 429 to Poinciana Parkway.
To the north inside of Horizon West, the expansion ends at Siedel Road, which is the point the road leaves management by FDOT and becomes managed by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX).
The project is currently in Phase 2, which is Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study. A public meeting will be held in the Fall of 2022, and PD&E is scheduled to complete by the end of the year. This phase determines the best solution for a community’s transportation needs. Future project phases (Final Design, Right-of-Way Acquisition, and Construction) are not currently funded in the Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise 5-Year Work Program.
