122 Townhomes Proposed Along New Independence Parkway; Called Waterside at Hamlin

A new 122 townhome community is proposed along New Independence Parkway in Hamlin. Called Waterside at Hamlin, the community will be directly next to the Lakewalk at Hamlin apartment complex and will solely feature townhomes.

The request is currently with the Orange County Development Review Committee and is being revised by the developer before it can be approved. The Committee has questioned some parts of the plan, such as if the roads will connect to Lakewalk at Hamlin, which show inconsistencies between different plans.

The design of the community is segmented due to an electrical line easement that runs through the property along with smaller upland areas suitable for development, which have created impacts to wetland areas. The Development Review Committee discussed in 2020 the impacts to wetlands, but no result occurred from their meeting.
